Most people living at theJersey Shore are familiar with Sandy Hook and it’s beaches, bike path, military history, holly forest and birding areas. There are a number of other great things to do on your visit to Sandy Hook. Seven beaches are open to the public. Notable bird species are osprey and piping plovers. The historic district has gun batteries dating back to 1895. The Sandy Hook Lighthouse is the oldest in the United States.

The 2010 Sandy Hook Summer Season Beach pass goes on sale on April 19th at the Sandy Hook Ranger Station. Available daily, 9am to 4pm. Due to construction on the bridge and heavy summer volume, beach pass holders will need to arrive before 11:00am on the weekends to have access. It is likely that the beach parking lots will close to all visitors by 11:00am on the summer weekends. Beat the summer traffic and plan your spring visit to Sandy Hook.
